James, President & CEO of Fairfield County’s Community Foundation and Michael Pollard, Chief of Staff for the Mayor of the City of Stamford. Come enjoy hors d’oeuvres, music, arts and a night of inspiration. 03/10/16 – Your Donation Helps Us Enrich Lives!  In just 1 day, more than 15,000 caring donors came together and donated over $1.2 million to Fairfield County’s Community Foundation on behalf of local nonprofit organizations. More than $1,500 was raised to support EAGLE’s summer college program.

01/14/16 – EAGLE students and families reflected on the Haiti 2010 Earthquake that left hundred thousands of dislocated and displaced.

05/12/15 EAGLE’s Student Volunteer/Student Leader – Gerardo Maguina was presented with the Gallagher/Feighery Scholarship at the State Street Debating Society’s 2015 Scholarship Award Dinner in Stamford, CT.  Gerardo is 1 in 6 young high school scholars awarded with a scholarship, and he will be UCONN bound in the fall.

04/29/15 The EAGLE Board hosted a Spring Award Reception & Art Benefit at UCONN Stamford’s Schreiber Reading Room.  All event proceeds directly supported EAGLE’s after-school youth-development & ESL/ELL program.

01/24/15 – EAGLE Student Mentoring, Inc. participated in Haitians Building Unity, Inc.‘s “A Night of Remembrance: 5th Year Anniversary for Haiti’s 2010 Earthquake” event at the University of Bridgeport’s Mertens Theatre.

Flavie Sanon, Founder and Phederine Lyra, Parent & Community Outreach Coordinator attended to “honor, empower and inspire the Haitian community as they reflected the aftermath of the catastrophic earthquake that hit the country three years ago.” (HBU)

Flavie & Phederine also engaged with community leaders to promote the sustainability of the Haitian-heritage community.

December 2014

12/19/14 – EAGLE’s Junior Board Liaison Sub-committee engaged with a student group from Princeton University‘s Intro to Entrepreneurship undergraduate class for a project in entrepreneurship in the educational field.   The students identified EAGLE Student Mentoring, Inc. as a high-impact non-profit in the local community, and will research EAGLE in preparation for their final project – a mock funding pitch for EAGLE Student Mentoring, Inc.

11/19/14 – Michelle Hopson, Executive Director/Consultant & Board Secretary, participated in a CNE Roundtable meeting with Terry Edelstein, Nonprofit Liaison to Governor Malloy at Fairfield County’s Community Foundation in Norwalk, CT.  Terry shared the 2014 recommendations of the Governor’s Cabinet on Nonprofit Health and Human Services that relate to administrative policy and potential legislative action. 11/15/14 – Flavie Sanon, Board President & Founder, was the moderator for the Roundtable discussion with Haitian Community Leaders in Fairfield County by Haitians Building Unity Inc., and Center for Immigrant Development Inc.  Community Leaders discussed the strengths and pressing issues of the Haitian community in Fairfield County.



11/11/14 – EAGLE ran a Parent Engagement = Student Success meeting at Neighbor’s Link in Stamford to discuss the program focus and highlights.  Special thanks to Neighbor’s Link and Trader’s Joe in Stamford!

11/05/14 – Michelle Hopson, Executive Director/Consultant & Board Secretary, participated in Council for Opportunity in Education‘s “Stamford Student Success Collaborative” meeting at Westhill High School.  The goal of the collaboration was to create program synergy and success for Stamford students.

10/7/14 – Flavie Sanon, Board President & Founder was invited as a Haitian community leader to attend Vita Community Collaborative’sCommunity Engagement” meeting at Neighbor’s Link in Stamford, CT.  Community leaders were invited to the focus group meeting to bring ideas, and help with strategic approaches for population engagement.



10/3/14 – EAGLE launches the Give A Grin campaign via AmazonSmile.   EAGLE supporters shop and Amazon donates a percentage to YHAPS/EAGLE, Inc.

10/1/14 – EAGLE hosted Fairfield County’s Community Foundation’s (FCCF) Challenge Party at UCONN’s Student Support Services Center – Stamford campus.  Attendees included UCONN SSS college students, local high school students, EAGLE Board Members, EAGLE Program Staff, and FCCF.

9/19/14 – EAGLE ran a professional development on the ELL student at the University of Connecticut – Stamford campus.  Attendees included local community leaders, community based organizations, EAGLE Board members and EAGLE program staff.

9/1/14 – EAGLE’s community based partner – C.I.T.Y. Ministries, a local youth group dedicated a School Supply Drive to the EAGLE after-school students.  Received cash donations were used to purchase textbooks, binders, notebooks, paper, pens, pencils and highlighters.  Thank you Farah Toussaint for providing the tools to help EAGLE students succeed!
